Radial gauge chart

A Radial Gauge Chart is a circular visual that shows how a value (like sales, profit, or website traffic) compares to a minimum, maximum, or target value. It’s a quick and easy way to see if you’re on track.

Build section

Section titled “Build section”

* Gauge value:

Section titled “* Gauge value: ”
  • This is the main number you want to show on the chart and is mandatory to add.
  • Choose a measure column with the data you want to visualize.
  • Pick how you want among the various aggregation options like SUM, Count, Count (Distinct), AVG etc.

Minimum Value field

Section titled “Minimum Value field”
  • This field is optional & is also a numeric fields.
  • By default/Auto, the minimum value field will is set to “0”. (When no value has been typed-in/no column has been dropped here)
  • You can either drag & drop a field, or type in value here.
  • In case you add a measure column, you can choose from the same aggregation options as mentioned before.

Maximum Value field

Section titled “Maximum Value field”
  • This field is also optional & numeric.
  • By default, the Maximum value field is set to 200% or twice of the Value that was dropped in “Gauge Value field”.
    • Eg: if Revenue was dropped in Gauge value field, and the total revenue was 10M, the maximum value when in default/Auto state be set to 20M.
  • It will show a placeholder of “Auto “ in the field.
  • You can either drop a field here, or type in value here.
  • You can either drop in a table or type in a value here.

Target Value field

Section titled “Target Value field”
  • This field is also be optional & numeric
  • User can either drag-&-drop a field here, or type-in value here.
  • In case column is dropped same aggregation options are to be provided as value field.

Tooltip field

Section titled “Tooltip field”
  • This is also an optional & numeric field.
  • You can see all aggregate options like other fields.
  • By default, if any column is dropped in any of the other fields, it should show up in the tooltip while hovering over the chart.
  • In tool-tip section, any other field can also be dropped for which you wants to see the tooltip for.

Customizing Your Chart

General Settings:

  • Style: Choose if you want a half-circle or three-quarter circle gauge.
  • Fill Color: Pick the color for the filled part of the gauge.
  • Decal Pattern: Add a pattern to the filled part for better visibility.
  • BG Ring Color: Choose the color for the background ring of the gauge.
  • Ring Width: Adjust the thickness of the gauge ring.
  • Value Indicator: Show or hide a needle pointing to the gauge value. You can also change its style and color.

Title

Section titled “Title ”

This allows you to give a Title to the Line Chart. You just need to go to the Title section in the Format panel.

You can easily toggle it on or off. In the “Customize title” modal, you can:

  • Modify the title text, font size, and alignment, and even add a background color.
  • Include an optional description that will appear when hovering over the “i” icon that will be visible as a floating button on the tile.

Once done, click the Apply button.

Gauge Value:

  • Callout Value: Customize how the main value is displayed (font, number format, units, etc.).
  • Label: Add a label below the main value.

Target Value:

  • Target Line: Adjust the appearance of the target line (width, color).
  • Value: Customize how the target value is displayed (font, number format, units, etc.).
  • Label: Add a label for the target value.

Data/Radial Labels:

  • Choose if you want to show labels for the start, end, or all major points on the gauge.
  • Position the labels inside or outside the gauge.
  • Customize the appearance of the labels (font, number format, units, etc.).

Ticks:

  • Control the number, size, and color of the major and minor lines on the gauge.

Understanding Ranges

Ranges in a radial gauge chart divide the chart into segments based on specific values. This helps visualize data distribution and performance against predefined thresholds.

Creating and Editing Ranges

  • Under format -> Ranges -> Enable the ranges with the toggle button
  • Access the Edit Ranges Modal by clicking on ranges dropdown.
  • Choose a Color Scale: Select a color scheme for your ranges from the dropdown options including various gradient and divergent scales.
  • Manage Ranges:
    • Number of Ranges: Adjust the number of ranges by typing a value or using the increment/decrement arrows. The minimum number of ranges is 2.
    • Range Settings: Each range has two main settings:
      • Ring Percent: Determines the percentage of the gauge covered by the range. By default, ranges are evenly distributed.
      • Color: Choose a color for the range. You can select a color from the available options or customize it.
